The high-speed Haramain train between Makkah and Madinah resumed after two and a half years. The governor of Makkah made the Haramain terminal operational in a special ceremony.

This train service between Makkah and Madinah started in 2018. Thanks to which the journey of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims besides locals and migrants has also become very comfortable. Because this train travels at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour.
The Harmain train has 5 stations. This train stops at Jeddah Airport from Makkah Mukarramah, from Rabigh City to Madinah. However, in 2019, the Jeddah station was completely destroyed by fire, which led to the suspension of service from the Jeddah station to the Haramain terminal for more than a year and a half.
The Harmain train, which facilitates the fastest journey for millions of people, has been re-launched today.
Saudi Transport Minister Saleh bin Nasir has said that the Haramain train will run between Makkah, Madinah and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and will pass through King Abdullah Economic City Rabigh. 24 to 30 trains will run daily from Mecca to Madinah, while their daily number will be increased from 40 to 45 in Ramadan.
Due to the Corona epidemic, social distance between railway stations and trains will be made possible in any case. In this regard, the passenger capacity of the train has been reduced. Normally a train can carry 417 passengers but under SOPs only 200 passengers will be accommodated. Special stickers have also been affixed in this regard. There are separate entrances and exits for passengers.
Passengers’ temperatures will also be checked with special thermometers. People were very worried about the closure of this train, because it was possible to travel to distant cities in a very short time. The train had set a target of 60 million passengers annually. It should be noted that in August 2019, a fire broke out at the Jeddah station of the Harmain Express train, which was extinguished after several hours of struggle.
Col. Muhammad bin Usman al-Qarni, a spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Makkah Mukarramah region, said the Joint Operations Center had been notified of the 911 fire that broke out in the courtyard of the Al-Harmain train station in Jeddah’s Al-Sulaymaniyah neighborhood. Al-Qarni said rescue teams, including the fire brigade, were mobilized as soon as the fire was reported. The courtyard was located in a 20×60 circle. Al-Qarni said there were no casualties in the blaze. Al-Qarni said timely action was taken to limit the fire and prevent it from spreading to surrounding areas.
